Ha, thats a good one! Looking forward to another channel to watch.

Well brother it's probably going to become reality.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love what I'm doing and all of you guys are like brothers.

I've got a dilemma though. I have Old Glory here. It's huge and I'd love to hang it in the shop
but my local sponsors might see it as unpatriotic and will want to give me the local version.
I'm straight up and I'll even tell the POSA it looks like a Jamaican product label for formerly illegal goods!!!.

My neighbour Brian is a "contractor" of sorts. He's been in Somaliland!!!!. I don't ask too much but apparently it's full of good guys.
He and I were chatting over the fence and he asked about the liner and crew????. Honestly Brian I don't have one guy I trust!!!.
This slipped out, "If I ask the Americans they'll come!!!". He said I don't know them but going by my eyes I think you're right.

I used the old broken Bosch Fong Kong tripod I almost threw out.
I can raise, lower and angle the phone.

This was about 30 minutes graft. It will work and I'll test it after the paint dries.

Mike,
Keep the initial videos fairly short say 10-15 min's to catch peoples attention.
The if you have time say once a month do a bigger video as a wrap up.

Best of luck
Neil

PS
You will have to set yourself a schedule of video output and try to keep to it.
Old enough to know better, but too interested in speed to care

tauruck

Great advice Neil.

I think with the current equipment I have that might be at the limit?.
All a big learning curve but if it's meant to be it should go OK.

I'm more a PC guy than a phone one but I'm getting more into how the thing works.
I have patience on my side.

Thank you.🙏🏻👍🏻

I received another 2 drums of the good resin.
This is patchwork city.
Slow going but it's the only way.
Got the curved panel set up and ready to bond.

How long is this going to take??????. WE AREN'T GETTING ANY YOUNGER!!!!!.
Speak for yourself pal.😂😂😂😂

Divine Providence doesn't work by your or my time limit.
It will be done when it's done. The shiny black isn't Bondo.
I make my own filler from the base resin used. Bondo is the last bit to tidy up for paint and we aren't close.

I'm happy with the progress and when both sides are near perfect I'll bond the top piece.
Thank you Lord.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝✝✝

tauruck

One more.

tauruck

What do you do when resin is curing?.

THIS!!!!.😁😁

It works.
No electronics. Just visual.
Old stuff in the shop.

I'm over the hump on the bodywork.
When I made the nose plug it was full of ribs so I couldn't offer it up to the car and there was a 2" mistake on the front chassis rails which meant the nose was too high when I fitted it.
I had to cut some bars and lower them. Now it all fits and I can start getting all the recesses in for the panel overlap. Marked and ready to cut.

I also extended the engine cover and it's in the hack mould curing. I'm guessing about 3 weeks until the panels are all done and fitted.

bubruins

So much progress lately! Inspiring!

tauruck

Thank you.

It's coming. This one man deal is a tough one. These panels are huge.
I made them as heavy as I could and weight wise I can carry them but they're ungainly.
That nose must be 10' long. Definitely a 2 man job. I hang onto the gate key so Aubrey can't get out in the morning.
He's the live in gardener who only works Saturdays for us. I ask if he has a minute before he goes out and we move stuff.😁😁

All the panels need to be like Armadillo scales. Overlapped. Creating lips that match 100% requires holding 2 panels together upside down while keeping the width
identical to the way it bolts to the chassis. Absolute nightmare. A 20' joke on the floor or on saw horses to add 2" of resin and fabric 4 times over!!!!!.

I signed up. No one held a gun to my head. I have to deal with it. 25 years ago I had 4 apprentices and in reality I was just paying them to watch me work.
They weren't working types. Where I live is on the fringes of South Africa's Beverly Hills. If you find a guy getting his hands dirty he's been called in to do so.
These boys around me are Office Johnnies. People will say ask the neighbours to give you a hand for 10 minutes. How hard can it be???. I don't even know them!!!!.

tauruck

No pics today but some coming!.

I haven't come close to finishing this project so I can't tell what it's like but if someone local approached me and asked for advice on building a long car I'd say use Aluminium for the bodywork.
It will treat you well.
This composite stuff is a joke. In 80 I made a single seater race car body. Plugs, moulds and final parts.
I've built a Carbon 911, Trans Am cars, Pro Mods, custom Harley gas tanks etc but this long car deal is NO BUENO!!!!!.
It's simple. A long pencil with 4 main parts, few holes and a bunch of fasteners??????.

I used to use bad language back in the day. Even that is too mild for this monstrosity that's a long car.
I chose the no plug, no mould route due to space and cost. Current estimate is about 240m/2 of fabric.
You can times that by 2 if I went the correct way. Where would I have stored everything?. Probably outside!!!. I've been Blessed by finding great sponsors but there's a limit.

Most of you don't work with fibreglass but i'll tell you there are no experts anywhere. You need a CNC mill to machine plugs from a CAD file produced by a genius aero freak and then and only then do you bring in the expert who's just a "laminator".
This liner is ugly and I'd love to say the next one will be the real deal.
One of the respected members called this the Soap Opera. He underestimated by 100%.
Freddie Krueger lives here.

Mike,

All projects have peaks and valleys as they are built. Sometimes you just have to step away for a few days, take a break, get refreshed, then go back to the project. A lot of our projects are ugly, until the paint scheme is applied. Then the magic takes place and the project looks completely different.

Keep up the good work, you are accomplishing something that 99.9% of us cannot. What is the old saying, Rome was not built in a day.

Keep the faith.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

tauruck

Thanks Tom.
God Bless you for that.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

You're right.
I learn new stuff every minute here.
There has to be a starting point besides the side panels which are already bolted in place.
The cockpit area is the tough one.
When I was trying to get the sides to blend into the roll hoop I obviously pulled on the cover and it cocked to the right.
I never noticed there was this huge gap on the left so I've cut the piece away and repositioned the cover.
I need to keep it centred and located so I've got a piece curing on the chassis as we speak. When it's cured I'll bond the cover to it and that should lock everything in place but also removable.
The roll hoop cover needs a few recesses for locating the canopy and a dust seal so I've jimmied that too and once all is cured I'll bond the parts.

This thing ebbs and flows just like my mood.
One day you're flying and the next is all confusion.

In spite of all the "setbacks" I am enjoying myself because if you aren't learning you're just going backwards.

Guys, thanks for always motivating me. It helps more than you know.
