Should I do some reporting/streaming from SpeedWeek?

Hopefully they plan something on FM... streaming doesn't work for folks in cars and trucks....

Okey-dokey.  I've received the permit application for press credentials.  I did a quick read-through and have some contemplation to do next - i.e. do the restrictions outweigh the permissions?  What will I be able to do if I choose not to get the permit?

I just wanted to letcha know my progress.  The heck of it is that I know I can post or stream or dang near whatever I want - on Facebook, for instance, or some other platform.  But youse guys want it here on landracing, and I'm concerned that the regulations might be enforced more emphatically when I stream it here.  I gotta be comfortable with what I choose to do.

Slim,

Be careful. They may send you a invoice! Or ban you from the salt!  Make up a name and post what you want here. No one will know it is you, it could be anyone on the salt just giving a unofficial report of what happened that day. It would be just like posting on Facebook. A Spectator pays a fee to watch and many of them are on the phone, or Texting people on what is going on. I don't see why you could not do the same as a person paying an admission fee. JMO.

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

Tom, I'll send you a note in the morning.  Thanks, too, by the way.

I second this.  Thanks in advance for considering it.

I'll be at the salt by the end of the day.  I'm gonna mess around and make some noise on the stream - just to make sure it works with this MacBook (I've used an old HP in the past).  I'm letting you know now so maybe somebody will be around later to listen to see if it comes through okay.  I'llo give you plenty of warning - maybe. :-P

I'm also going to try to put some audio clips on here so you can listen anytime, not just when I'm live.  Hey - it might work.  Stay tuned, girls and boys!  I'll be on the salt in a few hours.  Yippee!!

When I mentioned to my wife (who is a big fan of yours) that you were fired,
she said: "Oh No, how are we going to know what the Enola Gay is serving for lunch?"...

She will be happy to hear that you're gonna be back on the air.

Thanks.  I'm in Wendover now, chilling (literally) in a motel room, my camper trailer plans having crapped out.  More on that later.  It's 93 degrees out there and SpeedWeek '23 killed my a/c so I'll go out to see the sat a little later.

In the meantime, gas in SLC was about $3.50/gallon - - and so was diesel.  I'll check locally and tell you about it later.

Visibility is okay but not great - maybe 4-5 miles, thanks to the smoky haze.

Later.  I made it!

Just think!  No more potty houses, too.  (Why?)  Well, anyway, that was a shitty job.

Stan, the heck of the matter is that being the Potentate of Porta Potties wasn't a bad gig.  Certainly not!

Anyway, here's the latest idea for getting some audio to you on a stream:  I did a live report last night on Facebook, just for the practice and to see what would come outa my mouth -  and it worked okay.  But since many of you don't use FB I've gotta do something on this site.  I'll try doing some more "live reports" at pre-scheduled times (i.e. 6pm & 7pm tonight), so you can tune in then.  The reports will also be archived so you can tune in anytime and go to the archived report and here them on demand.  Photos I'll post here, like usual.

I think it'll work.  I'll try it tonight.  No access to the salt today anyway, and what race cars and bikes that are here - are still in the trailers.

In last night's FB report I mentioned gas prices here in town are maybe 0-10-20 cents/gallon higher than in SLC.  The new Maverick in far west W. Wendover is $3.439/gal, so is Smith's.  $3.799 at Chevron, $3.599 at Sinclair and Shell in Wendover.  All You Can Eat spaghetti at the Red Garter is $19.99!!!

FB sucks. How about we all give you our cell phone number and you can call each one of us?

Seldom Seen Slim

I know some do, some don't FB.  That's why I'm trying to get the stuff on here, too.

I'll be experimenting for a little while.
