Should I do some reporting/streaming from SpeedWeek?

I'm thinking of doing some kind of audio stuff from SW this time around.  I might have to get press credentials, and that would offer me some benefits but would also no doubt place some restrictions on what I can do.

Maybe I'll record some stuff during the day and package it up for an evening report.  It wouldn't be ready 'til later in the evening, although I'll do my usual posting of what's going on as the day progresses.  Maybe I can do some audio online during the day.  I have no clue on what the SCTA coverage will sound like.

Whaddaya think?  I'll mull it over, too.  This idea came to life as I was checking out the electronic stuff (CB, power cords, etc) and noticed the mike stand that I'd set out in front of the booth so you could hear the engines.  That's just so cool sounding that I want to try.

Yes!!!
Maybe could do some youtube and talk about highest speeds ran that day and who to look out for/ cheer on, new cars, ect.
I won't be able to stay during the week but want to know how the team is doing.
Most rules are written in blood and...... Rule changes are bought by a big fat check. 😉

That's a great idea Slim.  Over the years, as I listened to your broadcast, I often thought it would be great to have a recap of the days events.  Those of us that can not be there, would really appreciate it.

Slim,

You have been part of our Speed Week for over 20 years.
We first met you & Nancy as fellow competitors...you then left your mark on the sport as a commentator, not to mention what you continue to do with this website.

We look forward to seeing you contribute in a new role.

Thanks,
Scott

Geez, thanks, gentlemen. I was feeling pretty bad last year when I got home.  I had so dang much fun, even if I did piss off Valerie Thompson when I questioned her ride... lol8 lol8

I might get a press pass/credentials, might not, based on what permissions it grants/prohibits.  I'm hoping to do some sitting at the 4 or so to edit stuff - and so I can get some engine sounds down at the big end.  Ditto on course 2.  I'm not a good interviewer so won't promise too much of that.  You're welcome to find me with your stories and whatever, and I'll be meandering around, too.  I'll have my CB with me, of course.

I'm still figgering out what I'll do, but I'll do something.  Thanks for the support.

Another "YES" vote here! I've been listening to your commentary since 2016 and thing a daily review is a great idea!

A "Yes" from me, too.  And a big THANK YOU -- for all your past efforts doing stuff to help Speed Week happen.

And a big THANK YOU -- in advance -- for your future efforts doing similar things.  We appreciate it!

Okey-dokey.  I've received the permit application for press credentials.  I did a quick read-through and have some contemplation to do next - i.e. do the restrictions outweigh the permissions?  What will I be able to do if I choose not to get the permit?

I just wanted to letcha know my progress.  The heck of it is that I know I can post or stream or dang near whatever I want - on Facebook, for instance, or some other platform.  But youse guys want it here on landracing, and I'm concerned that the regulations might be enforced more emphatically when I stream it here.  I gotta be comfortable with what I choose to do.
