Here's another dose of my logic for you Mike!
The Clevo is in there so why change directions at this late stage of the game that will delay you getting seat time reward even longer plus the rewards for your sponsors to keep them interested. The Clevo doesn't have to be a killer right out of the gate! Put something together to make some runs & then decide if you need a direction change. At that point somebody might see what you have & want to put one of their bullets in it!

I'm with Sid on keeping the Cleavland of course I'm found of that engine one of my hero's besides Al Teague and Sid is Bob Glidden who dominated with his Cleveland's during the small block era of pro stock. Your build has been centered around the Ford engine the missing heads is a set back but the amount of effort at this point to change to a different engine seems like time wasted. If its at all possible look into new after market aluminum heads for a replacement or search out Ford heads in Australia where the Cleveland I believe was extremely popular. My experience with that great engine was building one with my son for his 1970 Mach one Mustang. I thought I might have an original set of heads left over from our Mustang era but unfortunately I can't find anything they would have been yours if I had them.

Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

All of you guys are awesome.
Brothers. Every one.👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👍🏻
Thank you.

I tell it like it is. I'm not politically correct and although humble if I'm right I'll stand my ground and when I'm wrong I put my hand up.
On the day Freud passed I was also in the fight of my life. I stood to lose everything and I got stick from some quarters because I never reacted in a timely manner.
I apologise for that.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

If I told you all I have spent about $2,000 in total on this build so far no one would believe it.
In 2000 I had work and spent my money on the Cleveland motor. After every job I'd take a portion and pay the local thief who imported American performance parts.
I have 2 1/2 motors here. A 2V I built and the "race" motor which was all wrong for LSR. When you guys started educating me I had to make changes. Now I have awesome
but obsolete new stuff. To sell them here in South Africa is a joke. Guys want R80,000 for a "built" 351C. It's painted blue. Nuts, bolts and manifold, everything. You know
straight off the bat that's junk. To rebuild a stock motor properly is that much in parts. You advertise an MSD 7AL for x amount and everyone will offer you ten cents on the Rand
because the thinking here is that everyone selling is desperate for money. A bunch of Vultures. If I got reasonable offers we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I don't do restaurants, movies or holidays. I live a simple life. I don't even have a road car right now.
Work is scarce and promises are in abundance. I'll tell you straight up, I've been living off the old girl. We have a deal where we help each other. When times are good I help.
No debt to speak of. House is paid for and she was retrenched last year so the struggle is real.

I'm that guy that forgets to eat. I get so involved in what I'm doing food is the last thing on my mind. We live on the bare necessities. We're on Cuppa soup and 2 minute noodles!!!!.😂😂😂
While waiting for work I'm working on the long car using what materials I have. I got sponsored by a kid with tig cups and a new flexi head torch. Awesome stuff but those gas lenses use gas like a Saturn 5.
I'm not formally trained on aero but I've proved my designs over and over and the reinforced plastics are a no brainer for me.
I fabricate, weld and do all the other stuff pretty well.

The sponsors I have are all awesome and I appreciate every one and every product/materials they've given me but if I had the finances
my car (when finished) would have very little branding. I hate begging for help. It would be cool if they all approached me because of my outstanding reputation.
I cringe when pitching for backing.

I'm my own worst enemy. I watch YouTube. The double edged sword of note. I get educated but I also see guys like Steve Morris manufacturing billet blocks and heads.
That stuff does my head in. Pardon the pun.

They say you have to hit rock bottom before you turn to God. I pray, I have faith and things eventually work out. ✝
I'm not sure on many things but I know I never found all the sponsors by chance.
There's something going on here.

I take one day at a time, head down and just go.
I will never say I've had it easy but I always got to where I hoped to be.
This rollercoaster on the other hand is off the charts crazy stupid but I want it sooooo bad.

They said LSR is not a spectator sport and right they are but I watched every minute of the live feed last Speed Week.
I guess you need to be involved in a car at the salt to get the best experience but education is key. The guy said, "Oh no, he's either run out of engine or gearing!!!!".
I'm a sponge.
When I eventually finish this build you'll be proud of all your input. The Volvo motor is here and it's the last resort if I don't find my heads. A set of bare billet heads would cost R200,000.
We paid 250 for this home we have. Our currency is R20/1USD.

Guys, I've got 2 gifted hands and faith. God is good. Something will come up.
This deal is all about becoming a man and learning PATIENCE. I got it.

Too many good men on here to mention that have helped. God Bless you all.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gotta mention Sid my mate the Kiwi though. He said "mate just lay your chit out on the floor and use chalk to mark it out". Sid, you were off by 2". 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Woody, I haven't had a drink in forever. I enjoyed the giggles though. I walked past the liquor store and the smell made me run.😂😂😂
I wanted to puke. It's that horrible back of the kitchen smell at a restaurant. Brother, the hammer is down and I might be a little bewildered but failure is NOT an option.
Thank you.

Thank you Ronnie. I love the motor and I came up with some trick stuff no one has ever done. I'm praying brother. Thank you for your support. I never knew Al used a Cleveland?.🙆🏻‍♂️

Lately, I've been following along with a bit of Mike's adventures. Now this may be way off base but it seems to me if anyone should deserve a trip to the flats it would be Mike.
I went back to his first posts and then jumped forward every 20 or 30 posts and I didn't see anything that would suggest Mike has ever been to the flats. If this is the case I think as a group it would be a nice project to make that happen. Just to get a point of reference I looked at United flights from Johannesburg to SLC and was surprised, a refundable round trip next year was under $4K. If as a group this is something they would consider I would start the fund with a pledge of $2k.

Thanks man.
Awesome gesture.

Freud even had a room for me in Wendover in 2016 I think.
I should have taken him up on his offer for many reasons but it never worked out.

I'm afraid to come to the US because I won't come home.😂😂😂😂😂

I've even had many job offers.

God Bless you for thinking of me.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My engineering sponsors are huge and a fair distance away so I can't just show up and wait for quick jobs so I make parts I can.
This is the mould for all my cold side turbo flanges. I had to do a few iterations on this. I have a 4mm O ring and I need some squeeze.
As you can see there was a plug with a recess I pulled the mould off. I had five attempts. I dropped two and they broke, the other 3 were off
on depth for the groove. I thought simple, no brainer job.

I get tested to the point that I'm supposed to crack and lose it. I just laughed and went through the motions. That red little horned dude
shouldn't have come down here. This ain't Georgia!!!.😂😂😂😂

I have to make six donuts. I'm happy with the seal, fit and material.
I used a high performance resin. It's heat and chemical resistant. I pour in a surface layer until it covers the male O ring groove and when it tacks up
after a few hours I have Carbon twine that I lay in the mould which gives it great strength and then pour a mixture of resin and glass beads.
The same beads used for bead blasting. Cheap as chips but way better than micro balloons. I put the heat gun on the first unit (200*C) and it held up.
This resin is awesome. I made 2 stroke exhaust cannisters with it and also custom bike gas tanks as far back as 94.

These rings will get drilled using the Stainless steel flange as a template. I'm using bolts instead of V clamps.
It might be more PT to unbolt stuff but I do things different. I use what I have available and even if I had the money I'm not spending 450 bucks for some Chinese clamp.

The bolts that are flush with the mould surface are used as release units. Just screw the bolt in further and the part comes away. Can't think of another way to release the parts due to the shape of the tool.

Despite not having heads right now I'm still grafting.

I need advice. I've made the exhaust stacks. Waiting for the flanges.
I did autogenous welding on one and the fit up is great on the other.
Should I go with or without filler?.
If I need to I'll run a second pass over the one I already did.

Thank you.

Kidding.....I would use filler....023 or .030 mig wire. Shoot for a bead width of two times material thickness and one thickness proud of the surface.
I`d never advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...But they work for me.
