Great day yesterday.
Hoping for more of the same today.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I have a question on these diff covers.
What and where do the bolts go to on these braced covers?.
I checked the housing and I have two large holes there.
Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're asking there Mike! The ten holes bolt it to the housing & the two girdle bolts tighten down on the carrier bearing caps with an Allen key & the nut locks it in place.

Thanks my brother.
I should have checked here before Google hey!!!!.
Why aren't you asleep?. :-D

I got it figured thanks. I'm doing some mods on the cover.
I want to ask what might be a dumb question.

When I was doing the aero on the Trans Am cars guys were running their alternators off the driveshaft
where it hooked up with the diff. They used a set of pulleys.

When I was stripping the Volvo XC70 I found this cool power steering pump.
I want to use it to pump diff oil through the top of the case through a cooler and back.
I know there will be crazy heat in the area but it must be better than nothing?.

I'm an old road service mechanic & was out working on a Freightliner last night.  :dhorse:
LSR stuff doesn't run long enough to overheat a diff, just put a temp gauge in the drain hole so you can keep tabs on it.

And check the torque specs on that cover...Usually 25-30 ft. Lbs. On the mounting bolts and 5 ft.lbs. on the girdle bolts to the caps.
I`d never advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone...But they work for me.

Nice fitment Mike....You WILL bolt that down to the housing before welding. Yes?

The aluminum girdle cover is a pretty stout casting that transfers the carrier support load to all the bolts & the stamped steel cover is just a thin oil container so to get any support out of you cross tube you'll need to add rigidity at the bolt flange area & tie the cross tube into it. On mine I upped the center two bolts on each side to 3/8 since there is plenty of meat in the gen 4 Camaro diff housings I used but they are also Nodular Iron whereas all the others are not.

I've got a 1/2" plate that's mocked up on the housing.
It incorporates the lower rear end to chassis triangle.

I tacked stuff on the Aluminium plate for flatness.
I'm all good guys. That brace is HD. Don't worry.

I can answer that... no not yet, but if you swing by and pick him up on the way to WoS I'm sure he't appreciate the ride...
