The Cleveland was a really good engine back in the 70's & it doesn't know it's 2026 so don't let that stop your freight train M8! Even if it's a stock block mule engine with a carb it will make noise, impress people & allow you to shake it down. I made the mistake of changing directions with the power package in my liner & that set me back a few years to completion. Will a Coyote even fit in your chassis? :?

Mike,

If you are worried about the block holding up, with all the work you have done to fit the motor and make the headers etc. would it be cost effective to look for a aftermarket block? There must be some used ones available? While collecting Coyote motors or parts.

Just a thought,

Tom G.

Time is flying, as I just looked back to see when you started this thread!!!!!!

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

All points taken and nothing is set in stone.

I'm concentrating on body work. It kinda bit me in the bum.
I thought this was the no brainer operation.
It's got my head spinning to be honest. Every panel fits under the one in front using a 2" lip from the nose back.

The chassis is up on stands that have locators and they are mm accurate. 2 problems. The current height and a lack of help.
I'm handling 10' sections and I've put so much pressure on myself to get everything to paint by month's end.

I know I've been on this project forever and it bugs me more than you guys but finances are my issue. It's the nature of the beast and I have to deal with it.

hmmmm Mike,  welcome to LSR  the "SALandT FEVER" playing out give yourself a reprieve,  VALENTINES DAY gift  --ready for paint

the way delt with that was  rachett straps and  my feet became pretty smart.  I got the chassis up high enough that I could slide under the car and i learned to be able to hold my longer panels up with my feet and knees while i snaked, slid and spun under the car on my back, but mine were much lighter that yours mine were alloy.

I get you.

This is weird. Besides one of my sponsors getting his crew to help get the chassis outside for a few photos in the very early days no other human hand has touched this liner on the construction side.
A good friend way back thought it a good idea to pay to have ceilings fitted in my shop God Bless him but I can't stand any parts up. I have to rotate on the horizontal.

The shop is all clutter. Composites are cool but the waiting drives me nuts. Watching paint dry!!!!.
This thing is huge. Right now the place looks like a tornado hit. Parts everywhere so you step over and between. It's nuts.

The gardener dude that lives out back hasn't been keeping his word so the once a week tidy up is cancelled. I'm ignoring him. I live in a bubble and truth be told despite the difficulties I have no one to fight with which is awesome but the little woman makes decisions without consultation AND every one turns out bad. Who gets the agro and has to fix???. Fish in a barrel?. She'd miss and hole the bucket I swear.
I'm trying to be a good guy and enjoy this process but I get these nonstop attacks not even related.

Mike! aktion086 You're an emotional roller coaster, chill out Mate!! Pull up a chair & take some time to admire what you've already accomplished here & don't get frustrated by the daunting task in front of you, take in the rewards of what you've already done. Remember the elephant!
Your shop is so much bigger than mine & most of the year you can actually go outside & work on the big stuff. My shed is 30ft x 30ft & this is where I built my 40ft liner with all the usual stuff, welders band saws, lathe, mill, bla bla bla plus I live in a 9x30 loft above all that crap. Oh, did I mention I'm building a roadster in here now as well! I think I have 20lb of crap in this 5lb bag now & I should be able to have the door open in a few months, it's -18c today.
Enjoy the journey M8, the destination isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I always say, there are two types of racers. Ones who build race cars "in order to race". And Ones who race "in order to build race cars". Sumner was the ultimate example of the latter. Jack Costella   was the ultimate of the first category.

Thanks guys.

I sound emotional right now.
I'm just annoyed.

I love the whole project and I'm all in.

Jumping around as usual.
One part curing and another plug being made.
This is never ending.

Got a semi finished plug for a turbo intake and a mould for making countersunk body panel buttons.
They get bonded into the honeycomb panels and use M10 C/S bolts. I don't like Dzus fasteners on composites.
Got to cast about 65 of these 10 at a time.

tauruck

This long car is all highs and lows.

I poured about 65 body panel buttons and I've started hanging panels.
I decided to go from back to front.
I've kept as close to my original design which the aeronautics sponsor edited. Small change.

Could just be me but I'm not liking the way it looks. I think because it's up about 3' on stands and I'm short it looks lousy????.

We'll find out if I'm wrong when we get it down.
Some pics.

tauruck

Tail sections going together.
Side panel on right has the C/S buttons bonded in and everything lines up.
Top curve already bonded.
Left hand side today.

Mike, I'm quite impressed with all the time, effort, and money you have spent (so far) on this project.  With all the work on
body parts, I wonder how your lungs are reacting to the fumes, dust, etc. generated.  I hope you have some good ventilation
in action in order to help protect your health.  Best wishes for success in all of this.

I've invested time and effort but on the finances not too much.
I rely on prayer and the miracles that result.

I've never worn a mask or gloves when working with composites.
Only when painting.
Jesus looks after me and he's my doctor and health insurance.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝✝✝✝

BTW, huge milestone. I finished the last 2 body panels yesterday.
Now it's time to splice, build in recesses and bolt parts together.
It came as quite a shock because I was counting panels after these last 2 and I was done.
Resin and fabric to spare.

2 Carbon turbo inlets, 1 NACA duct and a Lexan canopy to form before this all goes to paint.
