Tried for about 1 hour using two computers.  Never got in until all the rooms were sold out.  I did get in yesterday and head a room booked but encountered the problem at the credit card step.

I suspect they don't make all of the rooms available for speedweek at this time, holding some back for non speedweek gamblers!  Don't know what we will do.

I got 8 rooms total,  what a pain

   Do they have a 3 day minimum? 3 X 8 = 24 days :-o
Speedweek has been canceled because of flooded conditions in the past

Went to KOA the last two times for Speed Week. They were bad both times. Made the week reservation with the 3 day minimum. Left after 4 days. They charged me for the whole week. Last year they had new owners so we tried them again. They said they lost the d**n reservation! They found us a spot but we had to move 3 times. One of the times was on the lower lot with no hook ups. We were running a car for the first time so we were pretty busy and it made for long days having to move in the morning and setting up at night.

Going to Speed Week 2010 and sleeping in a tent at the Bend. Not going to take the lakester though and I don't think I can talk my bride into camping out.

Got a room at the Nugget for World of Speed and will run the lakester there. The price of the room was less than half of the Speed week rate and rooms were available.

I tried the Red Garter and they aren't making reservations until April because they are being bought out by the big three.

Hope you all are able to make arrangements. I'm a big fan of the SCTA and love the way they run Speed Week but the lodging is way out of my price range now.

Just don't tell the Rat Roders, unracers, and looky loo's about the USFRA meet in Sept. and maybe we can afford to run a few more years. I only race for fun and when the cost/BS level get higher than the fun level I'm out of there.

How old would you be now if you didn't know how old you are?
If you can't race it or take it to bed - it ain't worth having.

I know at least one of the motels takes early reservations. Last year before I left Wendover I made by reservations for Speed Week at the former Supper 8 Motel.  Tony

As I was trying to obtain a room yesterday, I contacted a friend inside the hotel corporation (Rainbow, Peppermill, Montego Bay) to see if anything could be done.  Apparently, deals are cut before they go on-line to the racers with  hotel management and large corporations, VIP'S, Media, etc.  Also, all of the rooms are not opened up to the racers and some are held back for the gamblers and regulars.   Makes sense.........from their stand point.

For the new guys here, Peppermill Properties, (owners of Peppermill, Rainbow and Montego Bay), open less than TWENTY PERCENT of their rooms for the initial booking period.

The world has not ended.

You can do the Salt Lake {100miles} or Wells {60 miles} deal for 2 days then you can usually get a room In Bendover on Monday

I don't race, just enjoy and photograph. I live in Salt lake and drive out each morning...the gas is less than the Bendover hotel rooms. A 90 minute drive and the Salt Lake motel rates are a LOT CHEAPER. There are closer rooms at Tooele and I think some in Grantsville. Get a good nights sleep and a cool drive to and from the salt each day. After the first couple of days rooms open up at the Bendover motels. If you like to camp out with or without a tent, the bend in the road is FREE, and a lot of fun with the Salt Talks and the fireworks. If it rains though, be prepared to do a haul out from the muddy corner.

< ----- was a " Looky Loo " ( still am really ) and then got to crew for a couple of differant teams and then started working the course as a Steward ..... had to start somewhere. But if new blood isnt desired .... I wont tell anyone else about the most fantastic automotive event in the world !! ...........   mums the word.

I've been doing the Wells thing past too years.  Cheap.  Have been fortunate to need to be in impound multiple days in a row.  Means getting up before 400 local time to be in impound by six.  If on salt till end of day thrashing, not much time for dinner and sleep by time you get done.  Doable if you are being lazy, not so nice if thrashing and running records.  Course a record makes up for it!

This topic has been untouched for a few weeks -- but I'll let it stand for a while.  BUT -- I'm going to start a new one - to be a place to list rooms that are available after all.  That is, if you had reservations but are going to cancel, have an extra room because some of your crew/family/whatever can'tgo after all, etc.

And if you NEED rooms -- use this thread to post your needs here.  let this be the clearinghouse for Speedweek 2010 lodging needs, hey?

The new thread will be "stickied" --meaning that it'll stay on the top of the pile of them on that thread, which will be under "Bonneville General Chat" and titled "Speedweek Room Exchange" or such.
